Mangaroa–Kaitoke Possum Control Project

We’re currently working with OSPRI and our partners Trap & Trigger NZ to control possums in the Remutaka Hutt area as part of New Zealand’s effort to eradicate bovine TB. Possums are a known carrier of TB and can spread the disease to farm herds and wildlife. Click here for further information on the TB Management Area (TMA)

This is a free, ground-based possum control operation running from July 2025 through to June 2026. The work is being delivered by Supplejack Contracting with a dedicated team of professionals operating in a safe and effective way.

• Bait stations are placed securely, well away from livestock and pets.
• Please do not allow dogs to roam—they may scavenge baits or poisoned carcasses.
• Cats are generally not affected, but we recommend keeping them well-fed and discouraging hunting.
• If you suspect a pet may have been exposed, contact your vet immediately. An antidote is available.

If your property is within the boundary, we’d love to have you involved. Landowner consent is quick and easy.
